1. How does Talent 100’s system work? Back to Top

Our unique learning system ensures our students are fully prepared for the HSC, and positioned to score their absolute maximum UAI.  Our approach to learning is two-fold (theory and practice) – focusing firstly on building strong fundamentals, and then to focus on perfecting exam technique. Teaching is in a small group basis, that is comprised of four stages:

  • Seminar (Comprehensive Review of Syllabus)
  • Homework (HSC-Exam Style)
  • Personalised Tutorial (individual feedback)
  • Exam Preparation (a set of mock exams)

3. How many students are there in each class? Back to Top

Talent 100 is committed to small-group teaching and we currently have a maximum of 12 people per class and 4 people per tutorial. We believe this small group focus is essential in ensuring that our students receive the highest standards of education.

4. How does this compare to private tutoring? Back to Top

Private one-to-one tuition is beneficial to students as it allow students to clarify any conceptual issues on their own terms. However, classes may be more beneficial because the teaching is more structure and systematic, and because they promote a competitive learning environment that allows students to gauge their performance relative to other talent students. Healthy competition is the best way to keep participants from being complacent.

We believe that Talent system combines the best of both types of tutoring. Our small group seminars fosters healthy competition that brings out the best in our students, whilst tutorials give students adequate one-to-one face time in which they can consolidate and clarify conceptual knowledge.

Furthermore, the group setting makes learning interactive and fun. Students are able to benefit from a more systematic way of teaching. Although private tuition is helpful in “filling gaps” holes, Talent’s comprehensive teaching system will ensure that the entire syllabus is covered, so that the student can walk into the exam with full confidence that all material has been covered.

5. How does this compare to teaching at schools and other centres? Back to Top

Talent 100’s unique approach to learning and its results-oriented focus makes our course superior to other tuition centers. Our commitment to exam excellence ensures that we teach HSC-relevant material so our students score the top marks.

That is why our students believe we are so effective. In their evaluation, Talent  students rated our course as follows:

6. Isn't school work enough? Back to Top

Although all schools are required to cover the syllabi material, school work may not be sufficient. The standards of teaching are often ‘the luck of the draw’, and may depend on the teacher, the school or the subjects. Consequently, the student’s learning may be sub-optimal.

Importantly, teaching in school often (deliberately) pays little attention to exam technique – a critical factor in peak performance in the HSC – and marks maximisation.

In contrast, the cornerstone of Talent 100’s unique learning system is a deep and comprehensive understanding of the key theory, coupled with a commitment to perfecting exam technique to ensure students can achieve their absolute, maximum UAIs.

8. Do you focus on Exam Technique? Back to Top

As stated before, exam technique is a critical part of achieving success in the HSC and is therefore one of the key areas that we focus on. We have integrated this focus on exam technique into all aspects of our course - our notes, homework and exams - so that students are prepared in a practical fashion for coping with the added challenges that exams may bring.

9. My child has extra-curricular activities.
What are the time commitments for tuition at Talent 100?  Back to Top

Our courses are divided into 2.5 hour seminars (3 hours for Maths Extension 2) and 1.5 hour tutorials for each subject.
Whilst this workload may at first appear to be significant, a systematic and comprehensive approach is need to ensure students are positioned to score top marks.

Rest assured, your time will be well-spent. Our approach is highly time-efficient. We have distilled the key theory and skills that student need to know and ensure that our materials, teaching and tutoring are always exam-relevant. Students will understand exactly what they need to know for the exams, and as a result, will often spend less time on their schoolwork and revision.

Students may also choose seminars or tutorial separately, although the seminar-and-tutorial package will provide the greatest benefits.

10. Who are the teachers and tutors? Back to Top

Tutors and Teachers are selected on three main factors:

  • Academic Ability
  • Teaching and Communication Skills
  • Attitude and dedication towards students.

Our tutors and teachers have been selectively trained and are reviewed each term to ensure the highest standards of education are achieved. (Click here to see what students have been saying about our teachers)

Because their experience of the HSC is recent, they are often able to communicate and relate concepts to students in a way that high school teachers cannot. As excellent HSC students themselves, they are well placed to give advice on school assessments and exams and guide their younger peers to success.
